Francesca is a passionate interdisciplinary person, who enthusiastically studied physics in Rome and then at UC Berkeley. Afterwards, she moved to apply the principles of physics to the world of biology and chemistry, with the aid of informatics, statistics and data analysis tools. Completed the PhD, she is now dedicated to applying the scientific approach to the world of finance as a junior solutions consultant at Mirai Solutions. To counterbalance the scientist in her, Francesca likes to feed her artistic side with theater, reading and painting.
Gabriel grew up in a small Spanish town on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. He studied economics and quantitative finance. His professional background is in the banking industry, with a specialised focus on regulatory developments such as Basel II. He is a strong believer that by doing good data analytics, economists and data scientists can help institutions to improve the lives of those around them. In his free time Gabriel enjoys running and doing outdoor sports as well as reading books about economic development and political philosophy.
Guido is a socio-economic statistician who studied and worked in the Netherlands, Italy and England before finding his final settlement in Zürich where he became a founding partner of Mirai Solutions. During his studies he mainly focused on finding a new approach to the explanation of poverty dynamics and in his MSc on the research of imputation techniques. Later on he applied his experience and customer-focused attitude in the risk management field and in leading consulting projects. Guido has not yet given up playing any kind of ball-related sport and, as a good statistician, he enjoys determining the most significant variables that make a great Italian dish.
Gustavo is an experienced consultant who has held a range of roles in various companies in Spain and Switzerland, mainly within the financial industry. He graduated in mathematics and holds a Msc in Computational Physics. Versatile and results-oriented, Gustavo meets new challenges with enthusiasm and a curious mind.
Martin is a passionate computer scientist who grew up at the foot of Mount Pilatus in Obwalden, central Switzerland. Directly after finishing his CS MSc degree at the ETH Zurich in the area of machine learning and pattern recognition, he started applying his passion in the field of data analysis as an IT Consultant at Insightful Corporation and later as an architect at TIBCO Software Inc. He joined his former Insightful colleagues at Mirai Solutions in 2010 and became a partner in 2011. Unless you find Martin in front of a computer flexing his programming skills, reading CS literature or completing courses on Coursera, you will most likely (not) find him in some remote mountainous place.
Nicola is an enthusiastic electrical engineer coming from the surroundings of the wonderful Amalfi Coast. Pauli studied mathematics and signal processing at the Tampere University of Technology in Finland, and focused his PhD studies on the dynamical modeling of large biological systems. As a post-doc he developed statistical modeling and image analysis approaches to study large-scale biological image data. He has experience in multivariate statistics, complex systems, machine learning and the modeling of dynamical systems. Pauli's main interests are fascinating mathematical phenomena such as fractals, chaos theory, prime numbers, and analog synthesizers.
Peter studied environmental sciences and ecology at the ETH and University of Zurich. While his strong interest in biology and natural sciences remains, he gradually improved his R skills and started to enjoy programming and data analytics. This led to an internship at the Functional Genomics Center Zurich, where Peter helped setting up an R package. Being enthusiastic about games, Peter recently started to learn developing games using C# and the Unity software. In his free time, travelling is considered the most rewarding experience, and thus he was also eager and happy to have spent a half-year long internship in Beijing.
Riccardo's education and expertise build upon his passion for algorithms and systems modelling. During his professional experience he has embraced with enthusiasm both academic and consulting projects. In his free time Riccardo enjoys skiing and cooking marathons.
