Blockchain is a technology growing roots in Zurich, both in industry and academia.
On Friday February 1st, the 7th ETH Risk Center Dialogue Event on “DECIPHERING BLOCKCHAIN: Applications, Impact and Risks” took place at ETH Zurich, with an extensive audience of students, researchers and professionals.
The interesting program extended from the latest advancements in academic research to practical applications. Particular space was given to Swiss applications: on the one hand blockchain has been successfully used in the cantons of Zug and Geneva for eVoting, on the other hand SBB has invested in the technology to improve their internal procedures and bring actual value to the company by reducing operational costs.
The closing section was dedicated to ETH startups, which build on blockchain technology: it is very encouraging to see young people pushing the boundaries of technologies and applications for the benefit of all.
